Inquisitor!

Bald and screaming, in 54mm.
A few weeks ago, my friend and co-blogger Bossman started going through his Inquisitor stuff. We had talked before about playing Inquisitor, but due to family, work, and running events at the FLGS we haven't had much time to do it. Well, we finally found time about two weeks ago and Bossman was able run me through my first real game of Inquisitor. I say "real" game, because my old room mate and I had bought a couple of figures and the rulebook back when the game was released. We played a few games, but I don't think we quite played it right!

Well, now I've gotten the itch to start playing Inquisitor, if only once a month. I was lucky enough to score a good size bitz lot off of eBay last week. When I received my box of bitz, there was enough pieces to easily make 5 guys. On top of that, Bossman gave me another figure that he wasn't going to use!

I've managed to get one guy assembled over the last few evenings. These models require a lot of mold line clean up, pinning, and then gap filling with green stuff. I'm now seriously thinking about getting a pot of the new liquid greenstuff just for these models. Here is my first figure, a low level Inquisitor. I want my warband to have strong ties to Mars, so I'm trying to give them all bionics of some type. It's a little hard to tell, but this guy has bionic legs, as they came from the Delphan Gruss figure. There are a other few small conversions, like the sculpted sash and plastic icons. I'm not sure yet how I want to base these guys, but I am open to suggestions!

Almost time for Inquisitor!

Tonight I delve back into the deep... I have an Inquisitor game lined up with Asmodai so I can show him the rules.  Hopefully I don't screw things up too much.  I created some very basic characters and a pretty basic narrative to start us out.  We will have three characters each and if all goes well, maybe we can get another game in. So in preparation for the Inquisitor game tonight, I decided to finish up my last two conversions and at least have them available if we wanted to use them.  I think they turned out pretty well.  The first of which is my Acro-Flagellant, which was made from Simeon 1427 and I attached an Ork power claw to use as a decapitator.  On the other arm I attached the K'Nib multi-launcher from the Kroot model.  This required a bit more work.  I had to file down the connection on the arm until it fit together and pin it.  In game terms the K'Nib fires rounds based on your Toughness value, which with a flagellant you can boost by injecting stimms!  He can't shoot very well, but he will fire a lot of shots!  Here he is with a primer coat.

Arco-Flagellant

The other figure I was working on was my Demonhost.  I wanted him to look as if he was swooping down from up high.  I added the old metal Pegasus wings with very little effort.  A little putty work and some pinning and there you go.  I am stuck on how I want to paint him, but I am thinking about working from purple up to almost a pale white...  We'll see what inspiration strikes me when its time.  Here he is in his naked pewter state.

So I will endeavor to take photographs and document our first game back into Inquisitor.  I am not the most creative writer so you guys will have to bear with me on that aspect.  I am about to embark on a new building and painting frenzy for my Necrons too.  Asmodai, Boltergeist, AirmanG, myself and a few others are going to begin a Tale of (X) Gamers in the next few weeks, but I will leave that to Asmodai.  Just watch for our bi-weekly updates and photos.  Thanks for reading.

Inquisitor Inspiration

Inquisitor... A couple of the local guys were talking about Inquisitor the other day and it got me thinking about years gone by.  I came straight home and broke out my Inquisitor figures.  I forgot how much I really liked working on them.  I had to dust them off but they were still in pretty good shape.  I then fumbled around a while until I found all my rulebooks and campaign books after which I went to the GW website to find that you can download the Inquisitor rulebook for free!  There are also some good gaming aids on the website too.  I went looking through the model range and found a few new figures but also found that quite a few of the older models and conversion kits are no longer available... this made me sad as there were some really good stuff in there.

So I think we have decided to run a campaign, probably start with some of the ready to play campaigns that were put out by GW, but while I was researching campaign online I came across a fantastic new forum dedicated utterly to Inquisitor www.the-conclave.co.uk.  Its a fantastic site with tons of information and a very friendly community.  There are some great writers on the forum and they even offer to help write up background for your characters. It appears most of the contributors are from the UK, hopefully I can help increase the US contribution. I would highly recommend checking it out if you have any interest at all in the game.  I can see I will be spending quite a few hours reading up on what I've missed over the last couple of years.

I thought I would post up a few pictures of my Inquisitor and his merry band of followers...

Two small child-like Alpha Psykers.

This is my Inquisitor, he's had many names but in between at the moment.

The Sgt. Black model with the the IG conversion kit.

Just a few tweaks to make a self-righteous IG officer.

I am pretty proud of this conversion, changing the enforcer into a IG sniper.

I wanted a fanatical priest with a pole-saw...

These are some generic hired guns.

Alien bounty hunters made with the conversion kit.  There are actually Mordhiem claws on the one on the right!

Tau water caste and his Kroot bodyguard.

I have a couple more that are in the process of being built.  I have a demon-host that I am converting with wings to make it look as if he is flying.  I also have a arco-flagellant that I am swapping out weapons on.  Once I get these done I will post more photos.

My plan is to blog a little about the campaigns we get into as well, hopefully taking some photos during the games.  Nothing more impressive than 54mm figures fully painted on a table full of scenery.  I hope some of you break out your old Inquisitor figures and get some games in.  Thanks for reading and I'll try to get some more posted over the next couple of weeks.
