Project Update: Space Wolves Finished!........for now

I'm calling these guys done, at least for now. If you read my previous post, then you'll understand my frustration with this army. These guys still need little touch ups here and there, but the overall look isn't too bad. I'm not proud of them though. Below you'll find photos of everything I just finished. My terminators, blood claws, and others that I finished last month are in earlier posts.

Anyway, on to the photos!

Small Delay.....:(

Sorry guys and gals, but due to a family accident last night, photo updates of my space wolves will be a little later than I planned. Also this Saturday is the Battle for Stones River Tournament, so I will be helping run that event. I plan on taking photos of the event through out the day and posting them here for y'all to check out! Well, that is the plan if everything doesn't go to crap between now and then!!

Project Update: Space Wolves, Getting closer to being finished

Sorry for a recent lack of updates. Real life has kept me busy lately, and any free time I have had I have been trying to get my Space Wolves finished and keep my wife happy!

My Space Wolves are 98% finished, and I am applying the shoulder decals and finishing the paintjobs on my rune priest and vehicles. I know I have mentioned it before, but I am keeping the painting very, very simple on this army.

Project Update: More Space Wolves Army Progress

I got some time over the weekend to get some more painting done on my space wolves. So far I have managed to finish my wolf scouts, wolf guard, and blood claws. When I say finished, I mean as far as I'm willing to go right now with this army. I still need to apply the decals and do a few touch ups that I missed.

Project Update: Space Wolves Painting Progress

Here is a quick update on my Space Wolves army. Over the last couple of weeks I have managed to get my Venerable Dreadnought, Logan conversion, and a squad of terminators. I'm still not sure if I'm going to keep this army or not. Until I decide, I'm not going to take the paint jobs any further than this. Here are the photos:

Project Update: Space Wolves Painting

Here are the photos I said I would take in yesterdays post. I managed to use our digital camera for these, but I am still going to have to play around with the lighting and such.

Here is the Venerable dreadnought as of now. I have the TL lascannon and assualt cannon arms painted as well. Still need a lot more work especially on the yellow.

And here are my converted thunderwolf calvary. I used the new plastic juggernaut models and the legs from the space marine bikers. It's hard to tell in the photos, but I had to make a saddle out of green stuff and completely cut and reshape the legs to get them to fit. I've seen other conversions with these parts but the riders always look like they are floating on the back of the thunderwolves. I've also sculpted on fur in various parts of the juggernauts to help make them look a little more organic and less bionic. For now I am running them as a wolf lord with 2 wolf claws and a thunderwolves pack with one rider with stormshield and ccw, and the other a thunderhammer and stormshield. I also usually give the lord and ccw rider meltabombs because nothing is worse than having these guys bogged down by a dreadnought and not being able to do anything to hurt him.

Thunderhammer & StormShield:

CCW & StormShield:

And last not but not least, my converted Logan Grimnar. I've only used my terminators once or twice, but I figured I would go ahead and make a Logan model just in case. He's a pretty straight forward conversion with dreadnought shins for shoulderpads, a bloodthirster axe head, and the rest is just plastic marine kit-bashing.

Space Wolves painting update

With the help of snow day yesterday, I finally managed to get the basecoat of Space Wolves Grey on all of infantry, thunderwolves, and terminators. As soon as I get a moment i'll get my photo box set up and try to snap a few decent photos. I'll toss them in this post just to keep everything together. I'm not too happy with the way these guys are turning out. I had originally planned to airbrush all the armour, but ran into problems. First one was a can of primer that didn't co-operate and left my models fuzzy. After getting most of that cleaned up, the custom color I had mixed up to match that Space Wolves blue decided turn a pale grey after drying overnight in the garage. Funny thing is, the backside of the garage door has nice baby blue strip across it from the airbrush's overspray. Guess I should have primed everything white instead of black. I'm tempted to just finish these guys off pretty quick and unload them on ebay. We'll see..

Resolutions?

With the new year, a lot of folks set up resolutions for themselves. My wife made a few small ones and asked me if I had any. My quick reply, "Nope!". I never have really made any sort of new years resolutions. But this year I think I will set up a few goals for my self.

First is to get my wife and I ready to go do a week long backpacking trip in Yosemite National Park next year. My wife has always enjoyed hiking at the local parks and she has decided to take this up as a full blown hobby. If you thought Warhammer was expensive take a look again! Training for the trip should be fun as it lets the two of us do something together. Over the last year and a half we have lost somewhere between 80 and 90 pounds together. Personally I have lost 50 pounds and I still have about 10 more to go. Getting out and hiking will mean less time for my little plastic men now, but it's 100% worth it.

My second goal is more related to this blog. I've decided this year to attend every 40K tournament at the shop I play at with a fully painted and based army. My local gaming store is having its first 40K tournament of the year on January 22. It's a 1800pt, 3 round tourney. I don't think I'll win but that's not my goal. What I want to do is get out and get in more games with folks I don't usually play against and have fun. I'll probably run my Ultrawing since it is all painted. Or I could run my Space Wolves but that would mean a lot of painting in a short period of time.....
