Battle Force Challenge Update - FAILURE

Yep. I failed. I thought I could finish my all infantry Deathwing force by the end of June. As it turns out, I had really over-committed myself this time. I did however manage to get the majority of it done, and in all fairness this is more than a 1500 point army! I still need to base coat the flesh and gold areas before I can seal them with gloss varnish and attempt to oil wash them. Here are a few photos of where the army is at today. Maybe this weekend I can get the final base coats finished and get my defense line primed.

Group Shot 1 - Knights, Command Squad, & Sargent Terminators

Group Shot 2 - HQ's, Assualt, Shooty, & Magnetized Terminators

Magnetized Weapons - 5 Terminators are magnetized for weapon options
Converted Belial - Same model from my original Ultra-wing army

Converted Librarian & Chaplain

I also have been buying a few things here and there for future projects. I picked up one of the larger bits bags from Spikey Bits and just before GW stopped allowing bits to be sold I picked up one of the final huge bags from The War Store. Out of both of these purchases I got a complete Land Raider, 3 Chaos Bikers, a Hellbrute, several plasma cannons and lascannons! Definitely these bits bags were worth the money!

Dark Vengeance Librarian Conversion and More!

Well, my new photo booth came in this afternoon and I finally got a chance to sit down and try it out. I've still got some more playing around to do with the lights, but already my photos are 1000 times better than before. Here are a few random miniatures, including some from my Iron Hands Commission and my Battle Force Challenge Orks.

Cities of Death Tournament & League: Results and Photos

Well, we didn't have as big of a turn out as we hoped for, but we still had a great event at Grand Adventures this past weekend! I was there to help out AirmanG and run a ringer army if needed. And we needed one! We had hoped for around 15 - 20 people, but only 5 showed up. Since the tables were already set up, we decided to go ahead and throw down! After the first round, AirmanG and I made the decision to start moving terrain from the tables we just played on to the next row of tables. This allowed us to make the table match the Alpha, Gamma, Omega style missions that Bossman had wrote for us and gave the tourney a more fluid feel. No one played on the same table twice. By the third round, I had to pick a deployment zone based on whether or not I could fit my Land Raider on the table! In the end, the 7 of us had a great time and between the tourney and the league winners, $130 in prize support was given away!!! Here are the results in order:

  • Tourney 1st Place ($30) Kevin D. with Dark Eldar
  • Tourney 2nd Place ($20) League 1st Place ($50) Patrick G. with Iron Hands Space Marines
  • Danny C. with Deathwing Dark Angels Space Marines
  • Brendan with Dark Eldar
  • David D. with Salamanders Space Marines
  • Ben B. with Grey Knights Space Marines
  • Note: League 2nd Place ($30) Damon B. with Grey Knights
First Place Tourney Trophy with One of the Winners Venom Squads

And here are ton of photos taken by David. Check out the terrain! Thanks for the photos, David!

Project Confusion: Howling Griffons, Dark Angels, and Space Wolves?

Yesterday evening I finally got around to breaking down my Ultrawing army and getting them into their Simple Green bath. All of the arms have been separated from the bodies and the figures where removed from their bases. I separated the arms so I can start using magnets, something I should have done years ago.

Takin' a bath!

Originally I was going to turn this army into Howling Griffons. The majority of them however, are being split up into two armies, my Space Wolves and Dark Angels. That's right, Dark Angels. I have enough pieces and parts sitting around to make a decent themed Dark Angels army list. Most of these pieces are coming from the scouts and tactical marines I built a few months back from the AoBR box set. I need to swap out the sergeants sniper rifles for bolt pistols to make them a legal unit, but other than that all of these guys are ready to be primed and painted. I also have the Limited Dark Angel Chapter Master that I can use as well. It's probably my favorite Dark Angel model that GW has done. Not to mention that I have the Forgeworld Dark Angel dreadnought as well. All I need to buy for now is a razorback and some Army Painter spray paints.

Dark Angels, the forgotten Space Marine Army

Don't worry, I haven't been neglecting my Freebooterz. The Nobz are 98% done,I just have to finish the weapon details and take a few photos. I should have a post up by tomorrow evening at the latest!
